Jessica Main began her career at the youthful age of 10, first as a chorister and later as a head chorister with Lincoln Cathedral Choir.
Receiving a first rate musical education, Jessica held both the choral and music scholarships throughout her time at the Minster School and after leaving the Cathedral Choir, went on to sing with the internationally respected girl's choir, Cantamus, both as a member of the group and a principal soloist for five years. Singing with Cantamus was one of the most exciting and informative periods of her life, providing many opportunities to improve as a young singer. With Cantamus, Jessica recorded an album on which she recorded several commendable solos and filmed music videos for Classic FM, to coincide with the release.
With Cantamus she has toured the world, winning international choral competitions which have taken place in Italy, Germany, France, China and Belgium. Jessica also took part in prestigious television appearances, notably as soloist on the BBC's Classic Response 2006, broadcast live from the Royal Albert Hall, and the Big Sing 2006 for Songs of Praise. Jessica has won many prizes for her singing in music festivals and competitions, being a holder of the C H Lofthouse Trophy for Best Operatic Solo (Open), and two times gold medallist for the Contemporary and Folk classes in the Choral Olympics, Germany (2004) and Xiamen, China (2006).
She has been taught for several years by Pamela Cook MBE and studied with Operatic and Musical Theatre Tenor, David Watkin-Holmes. Jessica is regularly coached by Robert Hollingworth ( of I Fagiolini) with the York-based five voice ensemble, Les Canards Chantants, and the University of York Chamber Choir - resulting in several sellout concerts with excellent reviews.
Jessica studied both as an undergraduate and postgraduate at the University of York - recently graduating as a Master of Arts in Vocal Studies. She sang regularly as both a soloist and key choir member with The University of York Chamber Choir, the University Choir, and the well-known Yorkshire Bach Choir, all three directed by Dr Peter Seymour.
Jessica set up and co-ran her ensemble, Vocal Point, with the aim to create an outlet for creating musical theatre performance to the highest level. The ensemble has given many exciting and well attended concerts - becoming famed for their energy and tight sounding harmonies.
