With Les Canard Chantants
Les Canards Chantants
Les Canards Chantants is a vocal consort based at the University of York. They are an auditioned ensemble who draw membership from students in the Department of Music, and seek to take one-on-a-part ensemble singing to the highest level.
Singers are auditioned according to the needs of each performance project, which combines post-graduate student direction and coaching by prominent guest artists. Les Canards also regularly take professional gigs through the University and in and around Yorkshire.
The most recent performance project was a program of Venetian Madrigals, coached by Robert Hollingworth of
I Fagiolini, which was presented on Baroque Day 2011 at the National Centre for Early Music.
Les Canards Chantants have given recitals for private functions at Stamford Bridge, Ripon Cathedral and for the University of York graduation ceremonies, with programmes compromising of Venetian madrigals and acapella jazz pieces arranged by the Real Group.
And yes, the name does mean 'the singing ducks'.
